Craft: I used Adobe Illustrator to trace over my original photo and create an illustration. I used the pen tool to outline the different objects, and the eyedropper tool to color the objects. I also used the shape tool for the circular and rectangular objects in the photo. I stuck with the standard stroke throughout the whole picture because I like the uniform look.
Concept: I chose to illustrate this particular picture on Adobe Illustrator because I like the sign. It stands out as the foreground of the photo. I also like the architecture in the background and the few random plants in the photo. I also thought the photograph would be a good illustration.
Composition: I chose to give the photo a cartoon look. I think it works best for the illustration because I don't like the standard detailed look. Also, there are many small details that I did not find necessary in illustrating the photo, so I made the sign the most detailed object, being the most important aspect of the photograph and now the illustration.

week 3
Craft: I chose these colors because they look nice together and are a few of my favorite colors. I think the green in the background and the yellow in the circle give off the idea of being outdoors, where cars are found. The black in the tires, however, are simply there because tires are black. I also outlined everything in pink because that is my favorite color.
Concept: I chose to draw a car with box-like features because it suggests that it is an old car, like my own. I also chose to make the tires round because tires are round. Lastly, I put the circle in the upper right hand corner to resemble a sunshine.
Composition: I put a car in the picture because that was the assignment. I also put my name in the picture to emphasize that it is mine. Lastly, I put a yellow and orange circle in there to act somewhat like a sunshine.

week 2
Craft: I took this photo during the day so that the natural light from the sun would show in the picture. The natural light from the sun reflects nicely on the Kiss n Ride sign. Also, it creates a small shadow from the overpass onto the sidewalk behind the sign.
Concept: I chose this particular picture because it represents what most of Midway consists of, which is means of public transportation such as the airport and the El station where I captured this sign. I also like that the sign says Kiss n Ride. The sign has a small scratch at the end of where Ride reads and I think that that gives off the feeling of Chicago, which has lots of graffiti and markings on public property, like the one on this sign.
Composition: At first I had only had the sign in the picture. However, I realized when I zoomed out just a little bit that the bottom of the overpass became present along with the green and purple plants behind the sign, which are far and few between in the Midway neighborhood. I also like the effect of the glass windows from the building being shown on an angle that descends farther into the background. Also, the sky in the background on the right compliments the color of the posts on the sign, giving the photo a good effect for the color.
